Our Classes

Iyengar Yoga:

Iyengar yoga is based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar who created and developed his teachings over 75 years. Recognised as the most widely adopted yoga method in the world, Iyengar Yoga is renowned for its focus on precision, alignment, sequencing, timing and the use of props such as straps, blocks, bolsters and chairs.

In an Iyengar Yoga class, you can expect detailed instructions from the teacher, who will often demonstrate poses to help students deepen their understanding of the postures and develop an overall awareness of body and self. You will be encouraged to work at your own capacity, especially in light of any injuries or health conditions.

All our teachers are certified in the Iyengar method by our national organization Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada (IYAC) and the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, a process of many years of dedicated study and mentorship with a senior teacher.”

Intro to Feldenkrais – Refining Your Kinaesthetic Sense

The Feldenkrais Method is a gentle yet profound approach to movement education rooted in the science of neuroplasticity. It focuses on enhancing self-awareness and improving physical functioning by harnessing the brain’s ability to reorganize and adapt. The practice can serve as a support for individuals facing obstacles, such as injury or physical limitations, to engage in valuable movement practices such as yoga.

In this introductory class, as participants you will be invited to investigate principles of learning and nurture a curiosity in yourself through carefully designed movement explorations. Through these explorations, we cultivate greater ease and efficiency in movement, while also gaining insights into our habits and patterns. These classes offer a pathway to harnessing our innate potential for positive change!

Truly, experience holds the key to profound learning! Bring your curiosity, questions, and your authentic self to join in a process of delightful self-discovery. No previous experience is necessary. Classes are designed to be inclusive and accessible to individuals of all abilities, welcoming both beginners and those already familiar with the Feldenkrais method.

Please wearing comfortable, layered clothing for the sessions, as the practice tends to be slower-paced and emphasizes mindful attention, allowing for a deeper exploration of movement and awareness.

Gentle Hatha:

This class is open to all levels.  The focus is on basic hatha postures. You will be guided through proper and safe alignment and encouraged to modify and make use of studio props as needed.  This class is perfect for beginners, those returning from a long break from yoga or for those who are used to a strong practice and who simply want to explore a lighter practice.
Experienced yoga students may move deeper into some postures throughout the practice.

Gratitude Flow:

This upbeat 75 minute class will focus on moving with our breath and deeply tuning into the body to develop our awareness, presence, and GRATITUDE. We are alive. We are breathing. This deserves to be celebrated!

Expect a grounding mindful meditation and a gentle warmup to begin. This will lead into a vinyasa inspired flow with downward dogs, forward folds, back bends, twists, and some core strengthening. The final 15 minutes will leave us enough time to settle into some deeply restorative poses and nurture ourselves with some extra tender love and care.

This class will be guided in a way that is suitable for all students; whether it is your very first yoga class or if you are an experienced yogi.

Hatha & Flow:

Perfectly balanced, this class begins with guided breathwork and gentle stretches, before moving into moderate-paced vinyasa flows that challenge your balance and improve your strength and flexibility.
We’ll finish with cool-down stretches and meditation in Shavasana.

This class is designed and accessible for students of all levels – whether you’re new to yoga or a long-time practitioner.

Hatha yoga for stability and strength:

Outward expression relies on a solid foundation. In this class you will learn five Universal Principles of Alignment and how to apply them in any pose.

  • Being deeply rooted allows you to reach confidently into life.
  • Cultivating strength provides the opportunity to sustain poses longer and expand them using the breath.
  • Abiding as a mountain, allows chaos and changes to swirl about you without affecting your wholeness.
  • Stability of mind and body weathers any storm or strain.
I invite you to go deeper into your practice to find joy, peace, and purpose within the challenge of the moment.

iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation:

“Yogic Sleep” is a deep form of meditation. In this class you will learn how to be alert, awake and aware while the body-mind rests, recharges and is restored.

“iRest” was developed by psychologist, Dr. Richard C. Miller. It is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, research-backed methodology for reducing stress, depression & anxiety. It has been used to treat PTSD, addiction, sleep disorders, and enhance joy & well-being.

  • Sessions begin with a brief lesson on the koshas or “sheaths” that comprise your identity: body, emotions, mind, intellect, heart, and ego.
  • A 35-minute guided meditation to explore, experience, embrace and re-integrate these parts of ourselves.
  • This provides an opportunity for self-inquiry: to ask and receive the wisdom from the Messengers and True Teacher (Satguru) within you.

Kundalini:

Challenge your mind, body and focus with this unique practice. Kundalini yoga draws upon the practices of pranayama (breathing techniques), Kriyas (exercise sets), chanting and meditation to challenge ourselves to understand who we’re are and what we are capable of.

This class is suitable for all levels, variations and modifications will be provided. Come, try something different and enjoy!

Midday Reset:

Pause. Unwind. Reset. Take a break from your go-go-go and join Stephanie on the mat. This gentle Hatha yoga class will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the rest of your day.

This class is designed and accessible for students of all levels – whether you’re new to yoga or a long-time practitioner.

Restorative:

Give your body the opportunity to fully rejuvenate and repair itself in this relaxing yin yoga class combined with restorative poses. Holding poses for a longer period of time encourages the connective tissue to feel more elastic, providing you with an increase of range of motion and a feeling of space within. This is a practice which stretches and re-balances even the most stubborn tendons, ligaments, and fascia in the body.

There will be modifications made available to help guide you into the right posture for your body. Due to the nature of slowing down and holding poses this class is meditative. Suitable for all levels.

Turiya Yoga:

Turiya is an ancient term that describes the 4th state of consciousness, a state that is beyond waking, dreaming and deep sleep. It is said to be a state of ultimate awareness that transcends all mental activity, emotions, and physical experiences. A state where the boundaries of the ego dissolve, and the individual experiences a sense of unity with all things. A state of profound peace, bliss and clarity, where all doubts are resolved.

The goal of Turiya Yoga is to help students connect with themselves, cultivate a deep inner awareness, and move towards experiencing a sense of oneness with the universe. Classes incorporate several different ancient practices including kriya, pranayama, asana, meditation, yogic philosophies, dynamic movement and kundalini tantra.

The power of meditation and dynamic movement will help ignite presence and awareness, allowing students an opportunity to trade in their stresses for inner peace. The practice of internal energy work will help encourage the release of blockages and promote healing, allowing students to tap into their true potential.

Kundalini tantra is a sacred practice of understanding and utilizing the flow of energy within your various systems. Through working with the major energetic centres of the body, we can come into balance and harmony.

Prepare for a studio class

Come a few minutes early to settle in. Have an empty stomach and bare feet. Wear comfortable clothing (tights or shorts) so we can see the action of your legs. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat. Please drink water before and after class. Please turn off your cell phone and refrain from wearing scented body products. We encourage students with injuries or medical conditions to inform your teacher before class begins so that they may instruct you safely throughout the class.
