What brought you to yoga or your practice? I first dipped my toes into yoga in my early twenties, driven by a curiosity to explore a new form of physical activity. As time went on, I found myself craving the inner peace and bliss that yoga brought into my life. It became a lifeline during a pivotal moment and has been a steadfast companion ever since.

You seem very passionate about it – why is that? The energy I receive from sharing my yoga practice is simply invigorating.

Do you practice a particular lineage, or do you have gurus or teachers you continue to follow? I adhere to the traditional Yoga Sivananda with a personal contemporary twist!

What is your own practice like? Yoga is part of my morning ritual, whether it be 20 minutes of gentle stretches or more vigorous longer practice. In the summer, I love to take my practice outside. I make an effort to embrace mindfulness in all areas of my life.

How does it affect your daily life? Following the eight limbs of yoga serves as my compass, steering me toward a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.

Why did you decide to pursue teacher training? After experiencing the profound benefits of yoga in my own life, I felt a strong desire to share this transformative practice with others. Yoga has been a source of inner peace, resilience, and joy for me, and I wanted to pass on these gifts to those seeking balance and well-being.

I have been teaching yoga for 9 years at few different locations in Montreal. During this time, I have had the privilege of guiding many students on their yoga journeys, helping them discover the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of this ancient practice.

Do you have an interesting story about teaching or practicing? One of my most memorable experiences as a yoga teacher happened during an outdoor summer session. Every week, same time, same place, while we were in the middle of a peaceful sequence, a curious hare wandered close to our practice area. The serene presence of the hare added a magical touch to the class, creating a deep connection between us, nature, and the practice. It was a beautiful reminder of how yoga can bring us closer to the natural world and highlight the unexpected moments of grace that come when we are open to them. The students still talk about that enchanting encounter, and it remains one of my favorite teaching memories.

What classes do you teach at KYH? Hatha Yoga Flow and Gentle Hatha Yoga.

What happens in your class? In my class, you can expect a curious, easy-going flow that encourages exploration and self-discovery. We move through a series of poses with mindful awareness, creating a balanced practice that is both invigorating and calming. I always ensure there is ample time for a deeply relaxing Savasana at the end, allowing you to fully absorb the benefits of our practice and leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

What do you enjoy sharing with your students? I am always excited to share ways to achieve inner peace and joy from within. By introducing techniques and practices that help cultivate mindfulness, self-awareness, and inner calm, I aim to guide my students on a journey toward finding their own sense of tranquility and happiness. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness them discover the power of yoga in transforming their lives from the inside out.

How will I feel after a class? After a class, you’ll feel pure bliss, as if you’re riding on yogic waves. The combination of mindful movements, deep stretches, and a tranquil Savasana will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and centered. It’s an experience that brings a profound sense of peace and joy from within.

Thanks Diane, we look forward to joining you on the mat!
